  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups diced apple
  • 2 lbs ground lean turkey
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans kidney beans (optional)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • A sprinkle of nutmeg
  • 3 Tbs tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chili powder

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced apples, sliced sweet potatoes, and sliced carrots along with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sauté for about 5 minutes until slightly tender.
  3. Stir in the ground turkey and cook until browned (about 5–7 minutes).
  4. Mix in tomato paste and chili powder until combined.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes and stir well.
  6. Reduce heat to low-medium and simmer for 20–30 minutes. If using kidney beans, add them towards the end of cooking.
