  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, diced
  • 34 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (28 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 (15 oz) cans red kidney beans, drained
  • 2 cups broth (beef or chicken)
  • 1 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook the chopped turkey bacon until sizzling. Reduce heat to medium-low and cover, cooking until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and reserve some grease.
  2. In the same pot, add ground beef seasoned with salt and pepper. Brown the meat thoroughly before transferring it to a plate.
  3. Add more reserved grease to the pot and sauté diced onions until soft. Stir in seasonings and tomato paste for about 1-2 minutes before adding diced tomatoes and tomato sauce.
  4. Return the cooked turkey bacon and ground beef to the pot. Stir in kidney beans and broth; mix well.
  5. Let the chili simmer for 15-20 minutes before serving hot with your favorite toppings.
