  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the creamed mixture until fully combined.
  4. Spread three cups of batter evenly in the bottom of the prepared pan, then gently spread cherry pie filling over this layer. Drop small clumps of remaining batter over the cherry filling.
  5. Bake for about 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
