  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil for searing
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (for cooking)
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sauté chopped onions until translucent, then add minced garlic and grated ginger.
  2. Stir in curry powder, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper (optional), cinnamon, and turmeric. Coat the onions well.
  3. Add beef cubes seasoned with salt and pepper; brown on all sides.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes, beef broth, coconut milk, and tomato paste; stir to combine.
  5. Cover and reduce heat to low; let simmer for at least 3 hours.
  6. For the naan, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Add yogurt and warm milk gradually until a dough forms; knead briefly and let rest for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat a baking sheet at 500°F (260°C). Roll dough into flat circles and brush with melted butter before baking until golden brown.
  8. Serve beef curry hot alongside freshly baked garlic naan.
