  • 10 ounces fresh strawberries (divided)
  • 34 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • zest from 1/2 lemon (optional)
  • 1/2 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 cups cold milk

Instructions

  1. Hull and chop 6 ounces of strawberries and mash them in a bowl with sugar and optional lemon zest/juice.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a medium pot over medium-low heat. Simmer for 2-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
