  • 4 pieces Chicken (legs or thighs)
  • 1 large Onion (sliced)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Dried Apricots or Prunes
  • ½ cup Toasted Almond Slivers
  • Fresh Parsley or Cilantro

Instructions

  1. Slice the onion and mince the garlic. Gather all ingredients.
  2. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent, then add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Season chicken with turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, black pepper, and salt. Rub spices into the chicken thoroughly.
  4. Brown the chicken in the skillet for about 5 minutes on each side until golden.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and add dried apricots or prunes. Bring to a simmer, cover, and reduce heat to low.
  6. Simmer for about 30 minutes until chicken is cooked through, stirring occasionally.
  7. Stir in fresh lemon juice before serving and garnish with toasted almond slivers and herbs.
