Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by mixing yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, garam masala, turmeric, smoked paprika, and salt in a bowl. Coat chicken chunks and let sit for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onions until translucent. Add garlic and ginger; cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in chili powder and tomato puree; mix well.
  4. Pour in heavy cream while stirring continuously. Season with salt and pepper; simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  5. Add marinated chicken to the sauce and cook on medium-low heat for about 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Prepare hand-cut fries according to your preferred method—baking or frying until golden brown.
