  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 33¼ cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or stand mixer, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; let sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour; mix well. Gradually incorporate remaining flour until soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for one hour.
  4. Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, and roll into 12-inch ropes with slits on each side.
  5. Twist ends to shape like bones and place on a greased baking sheet; let rise again for about an hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F during the last rise; bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush warm breadsticks with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan cheese before serving.
